A word from
the executive director

When I think about 2025, what stands out isn’t any single achievement or initiative. It’s the sense that we’re becoming the organisation we want to be, not just in what we deliver, but in how we work together, how we treat each other and how we show up for our community.
We see this “becoming” in our programmes, which saw stronger partnerships and deeper impact. GLAM was approached by ICOM as a partner for International Museum Day, while Education expanded across language regions. The Community programme launched new well-being initiatives for volunteers. Innovation led the way on AI and open science, while Public Affairs was a trusted voice on digital policy. We also launched our first-ever awareness campaign to better communicate who we are and where our value lies.
Equally important was the work less visible from outside. We grew our team, established transparent HR and compensation policies, and began consciously shaping the culture we need — one rooted in care, openness and honest collaboration. We completed the Value for Good programme, adopted a Friendly Space Policy and started comprehensive risk-mapping. These operational milestones reflect a commitment to building an organisation whose internal practices match the values we advocate for in the world.
Looking ahead, 2026 brings our double anniversary and the culmination of our strategy process. There will be moments to celebrate, but also to sharpen our focus on what comes next.
To everyone who contributes to this work — volunteers, members, donors, partners and team — thank you. I’m so proud to be a part of this community.
